SUMMARY:
The Langley Middle School is a 28,000 square foot new building that is part of The Langley School K through 8th campus in McLean, VA. The new building includes middle school (6th – 8th) classrooms, science labs, project rooms, administrative offices, and conference room.

The state-of-the-art learning facility provides bright and inviting learning and collaborative spaces for faculty and students while keeping the aesthetic of the existing campus buildings. DES worked closely with the staff to identify and design the school’s furniture needs for the science labs, classrooms, project rooms, administrative offices, and conference room. For the classrooms, the single student trapezoidal desks allow flexbility for teachers to reconfigure the desks as needed for lecture or small group collaborative learning areas. Individual desks as well as 2-student lab tables in the science labs create both lecture and project-based learning spaces that complement the custom, innovative ceilings comprised of space images and other themes. Administrative office furniture creates a functional and upscale aesthetic for the reception and private offices as well as conference room for the staff. The project was installed during summer 2014 for students and staff to begin using for the 2014-2015 school year.
