Subtractive Manufacturing

CNC automation is one of the oldest technologies in a Fab Lab, but is still a highly preferred method to produce parts in the manufacturing industry. Combining an EZ-Router CNC Router or Plasma system with a CAD/CAM package like MasterCAM gives students the skills and experience needed to fabricate very precise parts using a variety of materials. EZ Router aims to offer a highly robust, yet affordable CNC router and plasma systems for a wide range of applications.

Additive Manufacturing

Adding 3D printing to a Fab Lab affords students the opportunity to design parts, reverse engineer parts or manufacturer parts relative to their problem based learning. While 3D printing can be quite expensive both a capital outlay and ongoing consumables, we focus on solutions that are affordable, scalable and sustainable for schools. The Afinia H-Series 3D Printer provides a true “Out of the Box 3D Printing Experience” as the 3D Printer comes fully assembled, with easy-to-install software.

Laser Engraving & Cutting

Laser engraving and cutting offers unique design solutions in a Fab Lab. Epilog laser systems work with a variety of materials, including: plastic; wood; glass; and more. These systems are flexible and easy to use – and don’t require the use of specialized software. This makes these systems very popular with students. Epilog laser system do require ventilation, they can be vented to the outside or sold with a HEPA quality Filtration unit. Couple a laser system with a Graphtec vinyl printer makes it a perfect Fab Lab component.
